In China, Hotels can be officially classified into five ratings in terms of hotel facilities, scales, services and management levels: one-star, two-star, three-star, four-star and five-star hotels.

One-Star Hotels: Compared with other hotels, one-star hotels has nothing to do with luxury or deluxe, with simple and clean being its best features. They must have air-conditioning guest rooms, providing with 12-hour cold and hot running water. Besides, a lobby with information and reception desk, postal service, coffee shop and a dining room should be also available in a one-star hotel.

Two-star Hotels: Apart from the facilities offered in a one-star hotel, a two-star hotel should be in possession of at least 20 air-conditioning guest rooms equipped with telephones and 24 hours of cold and hot running water. The services here are quite good and both Chinese and westen food are offered here.

Three-star Hotels: Besides those basic hotel facilities, a three-star hotel is also armed with conference rooms, clubs and bars, coffee room, game room, beauty parlour etc. This kind of hotel enjoys the most popularity in the world due to its pretty good equipment, high-quality services and comparatively lower prices.
